CAR PARKING

Although undeniably beautiful Dartmouth was never designed with the motor-car in mind.  As a result car parking is at a premium and is generally time-restricted.  In the winter you shouldn't have too much trouble parking in the town but in the summer months you are likely to encounter more problems.

A regular park & ride service from Norton, on the outskirts of the town is available and is generally recommended in the summer months.

Alternatively Hole Farm Moorings has two car-parking areas available to our mooring customers:

1. Behind the Dart Marina Hotel

We have space for up to 8 cars in the 'hammer-head' that leads up to the Naval College gates on Sandquay Road - you are welcome to use these if spaces are free.  The area is marked with signs which state 'Raleigh Estates Private Parking'.

2. Sandquay Wood, Old Mill

Sandquay Wood is located on the road from Dartmouth to Old Mill Creek.  At the entrance to the woods is a decent-sized car park with tracks leading down to the fore-shore.

To use this car park we suggest you launch your dinghy in Dartmouth (or wherever convenient) then park your car in the car park whilst your crew travels round to pick you up in the small creek adjacent to Hermitage Castle.  You will need to check the tide times as this option is not available at all states of the tide.

Parking at Dittisham

Parking is available at Dittisham, a mile upstream from the moorings.  You can launch your dinghy from the beach adjacent to the Ham and park in the car park (fee applies).

Alternatively there is very limited parking outside the Ferry Boat pub - please note that access can be difficult here, particularly in summer and beware the tide unless you want your car to become a submarine!

ACCESS

The moorings, although tidal, are accessible for about 3/4 of the tide.  An inspection of the drying moorings at low tide is recommended to satisfy yourself that your boat can take the ground safely.

There is no access to the moorings directly from the shore.  However they are only a short dinghy ride from Dartmouth (launch from the Higher Ferry slip) or from Dittisham (launch from the Ham), a mile up-stream.

Alternatively a yacht taxi service runs from Dartmouth's Town Quay.
